“Unprecedented times have given rise to unprecedented opportunities,” says Curt M. Peterson, WVU vice president for research and economic development, in a special message posted to the WVU Intranet.
“When the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act became law in a bold effort to create jobs and turn around the U.S. economy, it also set into motion a wide range of federal agency funding activity that can play a critical role in moving the WVU research mission forward. Federal agency leaders are busy assembling implementation plans in anticipation of issuing requests for proposals at a rate and volume we probably have never had to process before. The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development will coordinate the University’s response to these opportunities, and is taking steps to both inform faculty researchers of funding availability and streamline application processes for successful submissions. We have established a Web site (http://research.wvu.edu/wvu_and_the_arra) as an initial entry point for WVU researchers to use to monitor federal agency activity on the Recovery Act front. The site will be updated daily to reflect information from each federal agency as it becomes available.”
