Two WVU Business Incubator tenants, Dr. Chris Kolanko and Steve Turner, were listed as #9 in the Domion Post’s 100 Most Influential People list in the Sunday, April 17, 2005 edition.
The article discusses Steve Turner’s company, Protea Biosciences. Protea Biosciences has developed a way to quickly process thousands of proteins to find out how they affect a body’s systems. Protea has seven researchers with laboratories in the Clark Chemistry building and at the WVU Health Sciences Center. Protea is nearing completion of the first version of its protein processor, and will possibly be first to market a viable product.
MD Biotech’s founder, Dr. Chris Kolanko received his bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees at WVU. MD Biotech is developing an eye scanner that can tell if someone has been exposed to chemical agents and identify what and how much they were exposed to. Kolanko said linking up with WVU has been crucial for his company.
