SportsWeave Prepares Recruits for College

While the idea behind SportsWeave began 30 years ago, the widespread use of the internet has made many of those plans a possibility. Dale Weaver, chief executive of SportsWeave said, “SportsWeave is basically a sports marketing company that does everything for the glory of God.”

Weaver feels honored to be the first West Virginia University graduate to leave the state and move back to establish himself at the West Virginia University Business Incubator.

His current project is working on the three main facets of his business plan. The first is to help high school student athletes receive exposure for potential scholarships in college.

SportsWeave has produced athletic “combines,” modeled after the NFL combine, to test student athletes in a combination of skills. The results of these tests are then available to college coaches at every level around the country.

In addition to the combines, SportsWeave has formed a partnership with Collegiate Sports of America (CSA), the premier college-recruiting service in the United States. The partnership was developed as a way to help players, especially in West Virginia, maximize their attention.

SportsWeave has produced combines for football, softball, and boys’ and girls’ basketball. The football combine held at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown, WV in May 2005 had 500 student athletes participating from eight different states and Washington, D.C.

SportsWeave is also creating a searchable database to provide information, rules, statistics, and history for college and professional baseball, basketball, and football in the U.S. The database anticipates offering all of this information for every sport in the world. Weaver also hopes the databases will make the need for sports trivia books and statistical encyclopedias obsolete.

In addition, SportsWeave also offers streaming videos of various outdoor and recreational activities on an unlimited viewing basis. These include fishing, hunting, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, and backpacking. Searchable databases containing local, state, nation, and worldwide records for various types of fishing and hunting will also be available.
