WVU SBDC promotes economic development through a program of practical, interrelated services, providing assistance to existing small businesses and the emerging entrepreneur. WVU SBDC provides many free services to businesses, including consultation on business financial matters, development of loan packages, and guidance for going into business in West Virginia. WVU SBDC is partially funded by the US SBA and the WVU Research Corporation. The SBDC offers frequent business seminars to incubator clients and to the public.
The SBDC seminar topics include:
- Three Step Jump Start, which helps entrepreneurs and small business owners accelerate their potential success
- Sustainable Growth, which is for existing and mature businesses in operation for a year or more. The seminar provides essential information for what a business owner needs to know to build or expand a business.
- Writing a Business Plan
- OSHA Safety Training
- Preparing for Tax Time
