Protea CEO Steve Turner to present at Boston Biotech Conference

Morgantown, West Virginia, October 7, 2009 — Protea Biosciences, Inc., today announced that Steve Turner, its President and Chief Executive Officer, will present at the 2009 Boston Biotech R&D Conference, at 3:40pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass. His presentation is titled “Protea – building a new proteomics franchise.” The conference will bring faculty from top academic institutions together with executives from several of the Boston area’s emerging biopharmaceutical companies, as well as members of the Biotechnology investment banking community.

“We are pleased to be selected as a participant in the 2009 Annual Boston Biotechnology R&D Conference,” said Steve Turner. “This prestigious conference is an excellent forum to meet with other leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies and to highlight the progress our company has made in the field of proteomics.”

The Conference program includes several luminaries in medical research, as well as executives representing the next generation of leading biotech and pharma companies. Jonathan Kraft, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Kraft Group and President of the New England Patriots, will provide the keynote address. The conference is being organized by Christoph Westphal, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Sirtris, a GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) company, and Senior Vice President of the Center of Excellence for External Drug Discovery (CEEDD), GSK, and Michelle Dipp, M.D., Ph.D., Vice President, Head of U.S. CEEDD, GSK.
