An article titled “Sensors to Go” features the WVU Business Incubator Tenant, Oculus.
The article states that West Virginia University’s Center for Industrial Research Applications has developed the Oculus System - a two-pallet system that takes advantage of the C-130 Hercules’ multi-mission capabilities.
Built for simplicity and ease of use, Oculus is constructed with off-the-shelf components. The result is an inexpensive alternative to the development of a new aerial platform for the permanent modification of an existing airframe. This platform can be locked in the back of a C-130 plane in less than 20 minutes. A complete Oculus two-pallet system, less the sensors, will cost less than $500,000.
