2009 LWV Class To Participate In W.Va. Roundtable’s Leadership Conference
CHARLESTON, W.VA. – The 2009 Leadership West Virginia class will convene in Morgantown next week for the second of the eight leadership sessions that are being held as part of this year’s program. Morgantown’s Waterfront Place Hotel will be the host location for the class from April 29-30, and the focus of the Morgantown session is the 7th Annual West Virginia Leadership Conference. The annual conference is a program of the West Virginia Roundtable, and this year’s theme is “Transitions in Leadership,” based on the work of the keynote speaker, Dr. Michael D. Watkins. (For more details, go to this site: www.wvleadershipconference.org.)
By attending the two-day conference, the 52 class members will be provided with an opportunity to join with other state leaders and to hear from professionals in the human resource and education fields, as well to gain a greater understanding of some of the ever-changing issues facing today’s workforce.
To get things started for the Morgantown session, there will be a reception Tuesday evening (April 28) for the members of the Class of 2009, Leadership West Virginia Board members, alumni and local leaders. The reception will be held at the offices of Dinsmore& Shohl LLP located on Don Knotts Boulevard. The class then will begin Wednesday with a tour of WVU and the new Erickson Alumni Center. Christine Martin, Vice President for University Advancement, will discuss “New Media Isn’t New Anymore: What Leaders Need to Know” with the group. Then they will wrap up the morning with a tour of the “Mountaineer Athletic Club.”
Following this, the class members will gather for the conference. “Leadership West Virginia is privileged to again be guests of the West Virginia Roundtable at the organization’s annual conference” said Pam Farris, Executive Director of Leadership West Virginia. “The topic of ‘Transitions in Leadership,’ is a timely discussion for class members”. The West Virginia Roundtable is an independent, non-profit and non-partisan organization comprised of the state’s leading Chief Executive Officers.
Financial support for the Morgantown leadership session is being provided by the West Virginia Roundtable, Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, WVU Alumni Association/WVU Dining Services, WVU Office of University Relations, and Mountaineer Athletic Club.
