August First Friday at Chic-n-Bones, August 7, 2009
August’s First Friday will be held next Friday, August 7, 2009, at Chic-n-Bones on Chestnut Street, beginning at 5:30. Special features for this First Friday include live entertainment provided by Island Vybz, a local reggae band, and a chance to win tickets to the Brew Ha Ha event on August 8th (http://morgantownevents.org/brewhaha.html). Complimentary appetizers will be available. Drink specials for Generation Morgantown include $2.00 Corona & Corona Lite and $6.00 Pitchers of Margaritas. There will be a $5.00 coverage charge to pay for the band. We hope to see you there!
And mark your calendars for September’s First Friday, which will be held on the last Friday in August due to the Labor Day Holiday, at Dragonfly.
Education Committee Offers Robert’s Rules of Order Seminar
Have you ever left a meeting feeling like the group just wasted your time? Or heard someone at a meeting say, “Robert’s Rules of Order says you can’t do that?” Come learn for yourself what Robert’s Rules of Order actually says on August 11th as Generation Morgantown presents, “Putting the Business Back into Business Meetings: An Overview of Parliamentary Procedure and Robert’s Rules of Order.” This two-hour session will cover the basics of applying Robert’s Rules of Order in a business meeting and give participants practical advice for chairing and participating in business meetings of all shapes and sizes.

Community Service Committee Seeks 2010 Projects
The Generation Morgantown Community Service Committee will begin planning for 2010 in August. The committe is seeking your ideas for potential projects. Past projects include Dog Fest, Habitat for Humanity builds, blood drives for the American Red Cross, dinners for Rosenbaum Family House, benefits for the arts, trail cleanups for the Mon River Trail Conservancy and many others. Please send your recommendations and ideas on how we may support your favorite non-profit organization, cause or community need to tojackthompson@aol.com.

The first Annual Brew HA HA will be held in the Municipal Parking Lot corner of Fayette and Chestnut Streets from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Sample over 30 different local and national brands of beer and be entertained by a variety of comedians throughout the afternoon. Tickets - Pre-register 10.00, Day of Event 12.00, ticket includes admission, souvenir cup, 5 Free Beer sample tickets. Tickets available at downtown Wings Ole, MAC and Main Street Morgantown.
Comedy Central’s “Roastmaster General”, Jeff Ross, will perform at the Met Theatre in downtown Morgantown at 8 p.m. on August 8, 2009, to benefit The Don Knotts Legacy Fund. Join us for a day and evening of comedy beginning at 3pm with Mainstreet Morgantown’s The Brew Ha Ha- a first ever Morgantown beer and comedy festival . Tickets for the Jeff Ross performance are available at www.ticketweb.com or call 866-468-7619. The Don Knotts Legacy Fund is intended to promote the exceptional career of Don Knotts and recognize his life as Morgantown’s native son. Funds raised will be used toward development of the Don Knotts Memorial Park along University Avenue near the Wharf.
