An article titled “Unique Morgantown-based Compnay’s Research Could Cure Disease” was featured in the Dominion Post.
The article is part of a feature by the Dominion Post about Morgantown’s 100 Most Influential People. The article places Protea Bioscience’s founder Steve Turner at #50.
Steve Turner founded his WVU-based Protea Biosciences company in Morgantown five years ago. The company takes its name from the field of proteonics, which targets proteins in human cells – cells that have gone wayward to cause cancer, diabetes and a host of other medical maladies for which there’s no cure. Targeting such proteins could mean tailoring medicines that may deliver a knock-out punch to those conditions once and for all.
Today, the company, which now has 10 researchers, has partnerships with major industry players such as Novartis Pharmaceuticals.
